White Hart Renaissance Fair Returns this June

White Hart Renaissance Fair | Corwin CDJR | Springfield, MO

Come one, come all to the White Hart Renaissance Fair. This June, it enters its 13th glorious season. Come experience the world of Shakespeare, of swashbuckling pirates and warring lords, of daring queens and brave knights. The White Hart Renaissance Fair offers fun for the whole family, and you won’t want to miss it.

The Fair will immerse you in the times of the Renaissance, featuring food, drinks, and revelry that will transport you back to a medieval environment. The village market will offer unique, hand-made goods from merchants in period dress, and you can shop around at your leisure. Afterwards, feast with the family, and then watch knights joust and jockey for the crowd’s favor. With a wide range of amusements and crafters, the White Hart Renaissance Fair will delight you and your family from dawn to dusk.

The Fair will offer entertainment that you can’t see anywhere else. Among the entertainment promised is Bound by Fire, a dancing gypsy group that, appropriately enough, dances with fire. In addition, you’ll hear authentic Celtic music from Bruce the Bruce and witness historic swordsmanship from the Five Rings Fencing. With its wealth of entertainment opportunities, everyone will experience a breathtaking performance that brings a smile to the faces of visitors both young and old.

Getting to the Renaissance Fair can be quite difficult on horseback, so consider a new vehicle from Corwin CDJR instead.

Classic FCA Automobiles Making the Move

2014 Dodge Viper | Corwin CDJR | Springfield, MO

Something old, new, borrowed, and blue? The move that some historic FCA automobiles are making feels a little like this old phrase. About 85 classic FCA vehicles will move to an exhibit at the old Dodge Viper plant.

This move comes with the closing of the Dodge Viper plant last August. While it was hard to say “goodbye” to the Viper, its production center is becoming a new nostalgic home. Some of the cars making the move to this new exhibit include the 1955 Chrysler 300, 1941 Chrysler Town and Country, 1970 Dodge Charger, and a 1934 Chrysler Airflow. There are also incredibly unique concept cars, like a 2015 Jeep® Chief sporting a beachy white and blue exterior.

With its transformation into a classic-car showroom, the old Viper plant will get a new name: the Conner Center. Unfortunately, the exhibit is not yet open to the public. But Historical Services manager for FCA US, Brandt Rosenbusch, pointed out the bonding benefits to FCA employees, “We are proud of our history and have been working diligently in the daily care and restoration of these important vehicles. This move will allow us to house all of our collection under one roof and have the space to share that history with our employees.”

Drury International Food Festival is Right Around the Corner

Tacos | Corwin CDJR | Springfield, MO

Every year at Drury University, the International Student Association hosts the Drury International Food Festival. It marks a time to explore familiar and unfamiliar food, culture, music, and performances. There is certain to be something new and surprising for everyone to enjoy; maybe you’ll discover a dish that becomes a new favorite or experience a performance that expands your perspective.

The event represents the diversity of cultures present on Drury University’s campus and invites students to share their cultures and traditions with other students and community members. As of 2017, approximately 13% of Drury’s student population comes from abroad, with 53 countries represented. The International Student Association recognizes the important diversity of backgrounds and contributions that such students bring to the university’s campus, so the event is not only meant to bring students and community members from different backgrounds together, but allow them to share their backgrounds, cultures, and food with one another and learn from one another. What better way to do so than to center the event around food, inviting others to eat your favorite cultural dishes at your table?

The Drury International Food Festival will take place this year on April 14th, and will be hosted on the University’s campus in the Findlay Student Center from 6-9pm. There is a small admission price for the event, but one we at Corwin CDJR think is well worth it: the event will be $10 for students and $15 for the general public.

Pile your family into your Ram to make traveling to the event all the more enjoyable; we’re sure it will be able to haul your satisfied, full bellies home.

Dodge Viper Ordering to Resume for Final 2017 Models

Dodge Viper rims - Springfield, MO
We’re going to miss the Viper!

2017 is a somber year for Dodge fans as it marks the final production year of the beloved Viper. The legendary sports supercar has been an icon since it first debuted and was a dream car for many who grew up in the 1990s.

For customers who want a final piece of history before it’s retired, make sure you order the 2017 Dodge Viper as soon as possible.

While most of Dodge’s 2017 lineup is already available for purchase, the Viper was delayed as the automaker struggled to keep up with the overwhelming demand for the final Vipers. This was particularly true for the track-ready ACR models, which suffered a shortage of its carbon-fiber aero wings.

Now that Dodge has a more clear idea of how many vehicles are being ordered and thus how many should be built, Dodge Viper ordering will resume in the next month, most likely by the end of the year.

Unfortunately, if you’re hoping that this “off the charts” demand will mean that the Viper will make a surprise return in 2018, Dodge officials confirm that this is the supercar’s final run.

History of the Dodge Durango

Next year marks the twentieth anniversary of the introduction of the Dodge Durango. The model first made its debut in the 1998 lineup as a competitor to the popular Toyota 4Runner and Ford Explorer. In honor of the anniversary and to celebrate the upcoming 2017 model, we thought we’d go over the history of the Dodge Durango.

The Durango was originally created to mirror the Dodge Dakota truck, having a similar front body style but with a covered back, making it a mid-sized SUV. The second generation debuted in 2003 at the North American International Auto Show and was considerably larger, therefore classifying it as a full-sized SUV.

Since its introduction in 1998 the Durango has been a popular staple in the Dodge lineup.

The third generation of the Dodge Durango received a noticeable facelift and plenty of remarkable features, both inside and out. It was originally thought that the Durango would no longer exist after the 2009 (second generation) model, but Dodge unveiled teasers online that proved otherwise.

With outstanding features on the 2017 Dodge Durango, such as personalized memory seating, an available dual-screen Blu-ray entertainment system, and a customizable digital cluster display, it’s no wonder that this vehicle has been able to last this long in the automotive world.

We’re excited to see what’s to come for the Dodge Durango in the years ahead! Visit us today at Corwin Dodge Ram to test drive the all-new 2017 Dodge Durango.

Diesel vs. Gas: What’s Best for Trucks?

Dodge Ram Truck - Springfield, MO
Every truck owner has to make the decision of whether they prefer diesel or gas.

Power. Durability. Grit. These are common words that are associated with trucks, and that’s for good reason. Trucks are used every day for some of the toughest jobs in the world. In order to keep these beasts running smoothly, some drivers have concerns about which type of fuel to use on a daily basis. The common concern is the battle of diesel vs. gas as the best option.

Fuel Efficiency

Right off the bat, diesel wins in the category of fuel efficiency, according to the U.S. Department of Energy. Diesel engines outperform gasoline engines in fuel economy by over thirty percent because diesel engines burn less fuel while operating. Additionally, diesel fuel has a high energy density and therefore less fuel is needed overall to create the same amount of power as gas.

Cost

Next, we get to cost. Unfortunately, everything isn’t perfect for diesel engines. The cost of diesel is usually higher than that of its gasoline counterpart. Although overall gas prices have gone down in recent years, diesel still remains about ten to fifteen cents higher than regular gas.

Environment

Initially, you may think diesel is less environmentally friendly. Historically, this has been true, but thanks to EPA diesel emissions requirements that went into effect in 2010, the emissions of both regular gasoline and diesel have been almost the same since then. This section ends in a tie between the two.

Making the decision between diesel and gas may be something to seriously consider based on what you’ll be doing with your truck, so be sure to keep all factors in mind when choosing. If you have any additional questions, feel free to visit us here at Corwin Dodge Ram.

Dodge Special Editions for Charger and Challenger Revealed

Dodge logo - Springfield, MO
Dodge has some big plans in store for two of its signature vehicles.

In mid-August, ahead of the legendary Woodward Dream Cruise, Dodge paid homage to the vintage muscle cars of past decades by unveiling two new Dodge special editions for the Charger and Challenger. Referred to as the 2017 Charger Daytona and the 2017 Challenger T/A, the two new cars are inspired by the race cars of the 1970s and designed to overlook modern amenities in favor of focusing on one important detail: delivering unparalleled performance.

FCA’s American head of passenger cars, Tim Kuniskis, weighed in on the concept behind these new Dodge special editions at their debut, “What these cars are not: They are not autonomous. They are not hybrids. They do not get 50 miles per gallon. And you cannot summon them with your smart phone. But what they can do is maybe remind you of why you fell in love with driving in the first place.”

You will be able to place orders for the Dodge special editions of the Charger and Challenger sometime this month for just under $40,000. Both of them offer customers the choice between a 485-horsepower Hemi V8 or a 375-hp Hemi V8 with an electronic performance exhaust system.

The Woodward Dream Cruise has been an important annual event for Dodge for several years now, and this year they did not disappoint.
