Fall has arrived and it’s time for pumpkins to take their traditional place on our porches, front steps, and driveways for the next couple of months. The changing of the leaves, the crisp air, and the promise of Halloween make autumn an especially exciting time for children. One of Springfield’s most iconic and beloved events is Pets and Pumpkins, a gathering meant to bring together the city’s kids, animals, food, crafts, and of course, pumpkins.
Pets and Pumpkins, which is hosted by TAME Pet Magazine, holds one of the largest costume parades in Missouri. What makes it unique is that it is open to both pets and people. Feel free to dress your poodle as Superman or your German Shepherd as a princess. Do your best — it is a contest, after all!
Want to win even more prizes? Check out the Pets and Pumpkins Facebook page, which frequently hosts picture contests for prizes. Additionally, the many pictures of dressed up animals will be sure to warm your heart and get you excited for this year’s festival.
The Annual Pets and Pumpkins will take place on October 20th from noon until 5 p.m. at the downtown square. Admission is only $2 for all and covers all of the events.
Here at Corwin CDJR, we love seeing all of the creative costumes people come up with. Feel free to visit us to see if you can give us a fright!
