Jeep® drove into the New Year with their Best Sales Year on Record for 2018 with a total of 973,227 vehicles sold in the United States. When looking back on previous years, the most recent record number of sales for Jeep® was up to 926,376 in 2016. In fact, when comparing year-to-date sales for the month of December alone, Jeep® sold 80,449 vehicles in 2018; a 10% sales increase compared to December 2017.
When it comes to the best-selling model, Wrangler sales increased the most during the last month of 2018, with 19,800 models sold; a 45% increase. Overall, the Jeep® Wrangler barely edged out the Cherokee for best-selling model with 240,032 Wranglers sold and a close 239,437 Cherokee vehicles sold. Even though it lost out on the title, Cherokee’s new model refresh saw an impressive 41% increase in sales over 2017 numbers.
Some sales were down with models, like the Jeep® Grand Cherokee, down by 7% annually, and the Jeep® Renegade. The Jeep® Compass picked up some losses with a December sales growth of 46% and double the amount of sales with 171,167 vehicles sold.
