Dodge Special Editions for Charger and Challenger Revealed

Dodge logo - Springfield, MO
Dodge has some big plans in store for two of its signature vehicles.

In mid-August, ahead of the legendary Woodward Dream Cruise, Dodge paid homage to the vintage muscle cars of past decades by unveiling two new Dodge special editions for the Charger and Challenger. Referred to as the 2017 Charger Daytona and the 2017 Challenger T/A, the two new cars are inspired by the race cars of the 1970s and designed to overlook modern amenities in favor of focusing on one important detail: delivering unparalleled performance.

FCA’s American head of passenger cars, Tim Kuniskis, weighed in on the concept behind these new Dodge special editions at their debut, “What these cars are not: They are not autonomous. They are not hybrids. They do not get 50 miles per gallon. And you cannot summon them with your smart phone. But what they can do is maybe remind you of why you fell in love with driving in the first place.”

You will be able to place orders for the Dodge special editions of the Charger and Challenger sometime this month for just under $40,000. Both of them offer customers the choice between a 485-horsepower Hemi V8 or a 375-hp Hemi V8 with an electronic performance exhaust system.

The Woodward Dream Cruise has been an important annual event for Dodge for several years now, and this year they did not disappoint.

2015 Dodge Challenger: The Most Bang for Your Buck

Drivers who are looking for an affordable muscle car basically have three options: the Dodge Challenger R/T, the Ford Mustang GT, or the Chevrolet Camaro 1SS. Each of these models comes with the lowest price tag for a V8 in their segment – but if you’re really looking for value, the 2015 Dodge Challenger gives you the best bang for your buck.

Torquenews.com points out that once again, the 2015 Dodge Challenger beats both the Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Camaro when it comes to the price tag. If you are considering a base model, you can expect to pay $32,490 for the Challenger, while it would cost $32,925 for the 2015 Ford Mustang GT (300A), and the 2015 Chevrolet Camaro 1SS starts at $34,500. It should be noted that all of these figures include a destination fee.

If power is your priority, opt for the new Scat Pack, which adds a 392 cubic inch SRT Hemi V8 engine that puts out 485 horsepower and 475 lb-ft of torque. That package will bump the price tag to $39,490, but will give your Challenger the ability to blow right past both the Mustang and Camaro – and just about any other car on the road, too.

Dodge Viper May Get Supercharged V10 Engine

If you thought the 707 horsepower Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat was powerful, wait until we tell you the rumors we’ve heard this week. Apparently, Dodge might be working to produce a Viper with a supercharged V10 engine, which could bring the performance vehicle’s power up to a whopping 800 hp.

If rumors are right, we might see the Viper supercharged with a V10 engine; increasing its horsepower to 800!

Automotive journalists at Allpar have had at least two sources confirm that supercharged V10 engines were recently delivered to Chrysler Group.

Currently, the Viper offers 640 hp when outfitted with its naturally-aspirated 8.4-liter V10 engine. Adding the supercharged power could raise that already impressive number by 120 horsepower. That is, of course, if the transmission, block, and other internal parts could handle all that power. We wouldn’t be surprised if the new engine requires the automaker to re-configure its current mechanics.

We at Corwin Dodge will keep our ears peeled for any more news or hints as to what the new Dodge Viper could have in store for performance enthusiasts. For now, we’ll be dreaming of 800 hp.

Dodge Brand Celebrates 100 Years in Style

Dodge Brand Turning 100

This summer, the Dodge brand will officially be 100 years old, but isn’t showing any signs of age. The brand kicked off the celebrations at the New York Auto Show with a dynamic video showcasing some great centenarians sharing some words of wisdom and showing a bit of a wild side.

A lot of the century celebration is focused on the refreshed 2015 Dodge Charger and Challenger—two key cars in the Dodge lineup.

Tim Kuniskis, president and CEO of the Dodge brand, talked about why the refresh of these two models is so important, “It is extremely important to what Dodge is. Combined Charger/Challenger sales are 150,000 units per year out of 600,000. People identify with the brand as a result of these two cars.”

To help promote these two cars and continue the Dodge birthday party, Dodge will be headed out this year on the Dodge Power Rallye Tour. This tour will head across the country to more than 50 events this summer, including state fairs, music festivals, art shows, and more. The tour will feature test drives for the public and showcase the 100th anniversary models of the Challenger and Charger and 30th anniversary model of the Caravan.

If you’re looking forward to the 2015 Dodge Charger and Challenger that come out later this year, consider the Double Up program, where you can lease a 2014 Charger or Challenger and trade it in for the 2015 model next year at no additional charge.
