All-New Dodge Challenger SRT Demon Comes Standard With Drag Tires

all-new dodge challenger srt When some folks find out that the all-new Dodge Challenger SRT Demon will have a wider body than any previous incarnation, they might be a little mystified. The wider body is designed to accommodate bigger tires. Why bigger tires? To handle the massive amount of power the Demon will be putting on the ground. In fact, the Demon will be the first car to ever go into mass production that comes outfitted with drag radial tires.

We first heard about the SRT Demon when Dodge put up a website displaying some maddeningly teasing footage of the new ride. That’s when we first learned it tagline, “Domestic. Not Domesticated.” Reminding us, as if we need it, that the upcoming Demon is going to be pure American muscle, much like the rest of its siblings. Dodge continues to post teaser footage of the Demon.

So, how powerful are we talking? No one knows just quite yet. And that’s exactly where Dodge wants us, overwhelmed with anticipation. A few clues have come to light though. The Demon will be 200 lbs. lighter than the Hellcat. Also, remember the Hellcat version boasts a wild 707 horsepower and 650 lb-ft. of torque. Dodge has said that Demon will offer 35 percent more launch force. Can you already smell the burning rubber?

Dodge Super Bowl Spot: A Celebration of Life

Dodge's Celebration of Life ad stole the Super Bowl show
Did you catch Dodge’s powerful commercial during the Super Bowl?

Anyone who saw Super Bowl 2015 will likely remember the very controversial play at the goal line.  Outside of the game, certain ads stood out, some didn’t. We found ourselves besotted with the spot celebrating Dodge’s 100 year anniversary,

The Dodge Super Bowl spot featured quite a few charming centenarians, dispensing the kind of advice that can only come from having survived 100 years on this planet.  Some of the gems… “Live for now”…“Life is good…you make it good”…“Learn not to cheat”…“There are miracles all around you”…“Stay young”…“Always tell the truth”…”Put the pedal to the metal.”

The pedal to the metal?  That’s when we see Fred J. Wild, born in 1914, lighting up the tires on a grey Dodge Challenger. While the centenarians continue to deliver bezels of wisdom, we can see Wild doing donuts in his Challenger.

One final bit of advice from Lennie Bluett, born 1919: “Never forget where you came from.”  Amid the smoke from the Challengers burning tires, it’s hard not to get the impression that Dodge never will forget.  We certainly won’t at Corwin Dodge.

Dodge Rocks Gas Monkey Event Sponsors Motley Crue’s Farewell Tour

Dodge Rocks Gas Monkey EventThe Dodge Rocks Gas Monkey event, which recently brought together rock and roll  and classic cars in Dallas,  featured an awesome performance by Motley Crue. The concert celebrated both the band’s partnership with Dodge (which is sponsoring the group’s farewell tour) and the automakers 100th anniversary. The event was open to pre-registered Doge vehicle owners, which resulted in the Dodge Rocks Gas Monkey event attracting over 1,000 Dodge cars, as people drove in for some classic music.   Billboard reports that die-hard Crue fan Tim Kuniskis, who also happens to be the Dodge President, said Motely Crue “’fits the brand perfectly,’ especially as Dodge moves from any family-friendly vehicles such as the Avenger sedan and Caravan minivan to becoming a ‘mainstream performance brand.””

The Dodge partnership with Motley Crue started in 2013 when their song “Kickstart My Heart” was used in the car company’s ad campaigns. When the automaker had to renew the partnership, the band’s managers told them about the farewell tour, which is how the partnership got started.

The sponsorship goes through the end of the North American Motley Crue Farewell Tour, which ends November 22nd. Kickstart your heart with a new Dodge like the 2015 Challenger or Dart from Corwin Dodge today!

Challenger Hellcat Will Return 22 MPG HWY

When you’ve got a vehicle that promises 707 horsepower and promises the potential to burn through 1.5 gallons of gasoline every minute that you run it at full throttle, it’s reasonable to stand back from all that information and guess that you’re probably not going to be getting very good gas mileage.

Good news if you’re one such individual crazy enough to think they can handle the madness that is the Challenger Hellcat: it’s actually not that bad on fuel economy, returning 21 mpg hwy with the six-speed manual transmission and 22 mpg hwy with the TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic.

“The new 2015 Dodge Challenger is the perfect street / strip muscle car,” said Tim Kuniskis, President and CEO, Dodge and SRT Brands. “As the fastest muscle car ever, the Challenger Hellcat can run 10-second ETs at the track, and then get 22 miles per gallon on the drive home. With a starting price of $59,995, there’s nothing else that even comes close.”

Truer words were never spoken. In comparison: the Lamborghini Aventador will set you back $425,845, generate 700 horsepower, and return 18 mpg highway.

What does that tell us? If you’ve got the money to buy an Aventador, then you should just buy seven Challenger Hellcats. While we might not be able to get you seven of them, come talk to our sales specialists at Corwin Dodge to see how you can go about making the Hellcat yours. Trust us: don’t think that you can control it, because you can only hope to contain it.

1964 Dodge Custom 880 Straight from the Founding Family

To celebrate its 50th anniversary, Dodge built 1,058 unique 1964 Dodge Custom 880 convertibles. Now one especially distinct model is coming up for sale, and this one comes straight from the Dodge family.

The first owner of this remarkable car was Anna Thomson Dodge, wife of Horace E. Dodge, one of the founders of the Dodge Brothers. It then passed on to Mary Wilson, who was married to Ralph Wilson, the owner of the Buffalo Bills football team. He died this past March.

Mary Wilson came to own the car in 1994 after her then future husband purchased the car at a DuMouchelles auction. He placed the winning bid of $13,000. At the time, the car still had its original tires and only had 7,862 original miles.

After Anna Thomson Dodge’s death in 1970, the car remained in the Dodge family’s possession until the 1994 auction.

Now, after Wilson’s husband’s death, she is selling the car. In an interview with The New York Times, she said, “It’s an incredible car with a pretty cool history. I hate selling it, but I just need to get rid of some things.”

The car currently has just over 20,000 miles and is in a remarkably unrestored state. It is powered by a 361-cubic-inch V8 engine, which still starts and run smoothly. It also has many unique features for a 1964 car including an AM-FM radio, Auto Pilot (an early version of cruise control), and an adjustable steering wheel.

Whoever ends up buying this beauty will get an amazing piece of history. Those looking for a more current model, though, should stop by Corwin Dodge to see our great selection of new Dodges.

Criminals should start shaking in their boots now—the 2015 Charger Pursuit is coming to police fleets everywhere. The newest addition to the pursuit-rated sedan segment isn’t only styled after the late-1960s muscle car, but also has the same amount of power, making it a great new option for police everywhere.

2015 Charger Pursuit

“Dodge has a strong police car heritage, and we are proud to offer vehicle armed with modern muscle and cutting-edge technology to help law enforcement agencies perform their duties,” said Tim Kuniskis, President and CEO of Dodge Brand, SRT Brand, and Fleet Operations. “The new Pursuit police car is based on our new 2015 Dodge Charger. It delivers up to 370 best-in-class horsepower, is available in both rear- and all-wheel-drive, has a new driver-focused cockpit and adds new safety and security features, as well as new state-of-the-art technologies, all designed to deliver the ultimate performance expected from Dodge.”

With a high-performance powertrain, great fuel efficiency, and both rear- and all-wheel-drive as available options, the 2015 Charger Pursuit makes sure no criminal is safe. So bad boys, hurry up and think—what are you going to do when the Pursuit comes for you?

Dodge Viper May Get Supercharged V10 Engine

If you thought the 707 horsepower Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat was powerful, wait until we tell you the rumors we’ve heard this week. Apparently, Dodge might be working to produce a Viper with a supercharged V10 engine, which could bring the performance vehicle’s power up to a whopping 800 hp.

Supercharged V10 engine | 2014 SRT Viper
If rumors are right, we might see the Viper supercharged with a V10 engine; increasing its horsepower to 800!

Automotive journalists at Allpar have had at least two sources confirm that supercharged V10 engines were recently delivered to Chrysler Group.

Currently, the Viper offers 640 hp when outfitted with its naturally-aspirated 8.4-liter V10 engine. Adding the supercharged power could raise that already impressive number by 120 horsepower. That is, of course, if the transmission, block, and other internal parts could handle all that power. We wouldn’t be surprised if the new engine requires the automaker to re-configure its current mechanics.

We at Corwin Dodge will keep our ears peeled for any more news or hints as to what the new Dodge Viper could have in store for performance enthusiasts. For now, we’ll be dreaming of 800 hp.
