Dodge Truck Found in Mayhew Lake

Recently there was a visual display of good ol’ Dodge Dependability. A Minnesota local caught more than fish when fishing at Mayhew Lake.

The man was scouting for fish by lowering a camera into the lake. In addition to seeing fish, he saw a pickup truck under the water. He immediately called the local Benton County Sheriff’s office. A team of divers was sent in to examine the truck.

The truck was a Dodge pickup and the license plate matched that of one that had been reported stolen 16 years ago. The vehicle was found about 25 meters from the shore so authorities think that it was driven over the lake when it was frozen. It was then left on the frozen ice, but once the ice melted, the truck sank to the bottom of the lake.

Nice try, lake. You can’t beat Dodge!

Although the car is too water-logged to run, the cold water preserved the vehicle quite well. There are no signs of bodywork damage, although the outside is rusted due to the water. Considering that the truck could have been in there since the turn of the century and has no bodywork damage, that is quite an impressive Dodge!

We know that Dodge is solidly built, but the Dodge truck found helps to prove that even more!

Dodge’s The Force Gathers Ad Campaign Debuts Ahead of Star Wars Premiere

The Force is very strong with Dodge!

Star Wars hype was in the air this past December, easily shattering box office records and drawing older and younger audiences alike to Episode VII: The Force Awakens. With a big hit like this, many brands and companies would jump at the chance to partner with the Star Wars franchise – which is exactly what happened to Fiat Chrysler Automobiles. Dodge was the first brand to debut an ad campaign just ahead of the movie’s release in mid-December, which was titled “The Force Gathers.”

The “Force Gathers” ad took a 30-second TV spot and depicts a black Viper in the style of Darth Vader leading rows upon rows of white Chargers, Challengers, and Durangos while the legendary Imperial March blares in the background. The procession stops out of a movie theater, presumably for a screening of Episode VII, while a pair of bewildered valets comment on being understaffed.

According to WardsAuto, the Force Gathers commercial won the number one spot among engaging automobile ads during the week it debuted on television, earning over 430,000 YouTube views and a quarter of share-of-voice ratings. The Dodge festivities continued in Los Angeles, where the Viper ACR, Charger SRT Hellcat, and Challenger SRT Hellcat patrolled the streets in the flesh.

The Challenger was on full display at Dodge’s Roadkill Nights event!

The first ever Roadkill Nights Powered by Dodge was a huge success, premiering at the 2015 Woodward Dream Cruise festival. Tons of souped-up cars, a 1/8-mile drag strip, and more than 10,000 auto enthusiasts added up to one fun time.

According to Chrysler, this free pop-up car festival featured flashlight drag races and over 200 classic and modern muscle cars, each of which participated in an unprecedented drag race. The overall winner was Brandon Phillips of Sterling Heights, Michigan, who took home a 6.2-liter supercharged HEMI Hellcat V8 engine.

“The ‘Roadkill Nights powered by Dodge’ came together very organically and in a very short amount of time. Not knowing what to expect, we planned for this to be a one-time-only event, but after experiencing the incredible performance enthusiast turnout, and after hundreds of requests to do it again, we’ve committed to teaming back up with Roadkill to do it again next year,” said Tim Kuniskis, President and CEO, Dodge and SRT Brands.

Dodge also hosted a Viper Owner’s night, as well as a Dodge Night for Charger and Challenger models. Scat Pack Forum members also had a get together. With this many muscle cars in one area, the Dodge Roadkill Nights were unforgettable.

Dodge is riding high after its win!

Advertising is important in the auto industry—especially during the Super Bowl. Earlier this year, the Dodge brand debuted a new, insightful Super Bowl commercial and it looks like it had a lasting impression. The Dodge “Wisdom” commercial was recently honored with the third place overall position in the 2015 YouTube AdBlitz, a prestigious competition that gives the public the ability to choose the best Super Bowl commercials each year.

“Being the only advertiser and automaker to consecutively place in one of the top three positions of the YouTube AdBlitz in each of the last five years is a remarkable achievement for our company,” said Olivier Francois, Chief Marketing Officer for FCA Global. “The poll results are a significant benchmark in gauging the impact of our Super Bowl commercials and an incredible acknowledgement of our entire FCA creative team efforts.”

The Dodge brand’s “Wisdom” commercial has been raking in awards left and right. Along with the new title of 2015 YouTube AdBlitz Poll winner, the inspiring, quirky ad was also ranked sixth on the 2015 USA Today Ad Meter.
