Dodge Drive for Design Contest Challenges High School Students

Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat - Springfield, MO
What will the Hellcat look like in 10 years? High school students will have a say!

Many of Dodge’s iconic muscle cars allow buyers the option of the 707-hp Hellcat engine. However, once you get that powerful, where do you go from there? Dodge hopes to answer this question by bringing in some creativity and inspiration from the younger generation with the Drive for Design Contest. Aimed at high school students from 10-12th grade, the contest challenges young and aspiring designers to design the 2025 Dodge SRT Hellcat.

The 2015-2016 contest entries were required to be submitted by January 8th, but the awards and prizes won’t be presented until the end of February. The judging panel, consisting of FCA Head of Design Ralph Gilles, Ram Truck and Mopar Head of Design Joe Dehner, and Dodge and SRT Head of Design Mark Trostle, will select four winners from the entries. First place receives an Apple Macbook Pro, while second, third, and fourth place takes home an Apple iPad Pro with an Apple Pencil.

The award ceremony for the Drive for Design Contest will be held in Auburn Hills, Michigan where the winners will be given a tour of Detroit Autorama, followed by an over-the-summer, three-week-long automotive design class for all four winners. Both trips will be all-expenses-paid by FCA.

Dodge Hellcat Orders Suspended Amid Massive Demand

2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat
Demand for the Hellcat is outstripping supply, but Dodge is racing to catch up!

The new 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat coupe and 2015 Charger SRT Hellcat sedan’s awesomeness has caught up with them. The rear-wheel-drive cars both feature a supercharged V-8 that puts out a ridiculous 707 horsepower (that makes the Challenger Hellcat the fastest sedan, ever). It should really come as no surprise to anyone that demand has outpaced production, and FCA has had to suspend orders.

FCA says that it received “more than 4,000 orders in just the first few weeks” after the Challenger SRT Hellcat was available for purchase. Now, with more than 9,000 orders, the company is halting any additional Dodge Hellcat orders until it can fulfill current orders.

“Due to unprecedented demand for the 2015 Dodge Charger and Challenger SRT Hellcats, we are temporarily restricting orders while we validate current orders that are in the system,” FCA said in a statement.

The Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat starts at about $60,000, and depending on features and options (and taxes), tops out around $70,000. Likewise, the 2015 Charger SRT Hellcat ranges from about $65,000 to $75,000. Considering the amount of power these cars put out, the amount of technology packed inside, and the muscle cars’ appealing and functional design, you can’t find a better value.

Though FCA hasn’t announced when they will begin taking new orders, here at Corwin Dodge, we have high hopes to be back to placing orders very soon. Stop by today to learn more.

The Big Nasty: 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat

The powerful and sleek Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat.
The Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat pushes the limits of what a car can do.

We are officially in the steroid-age of muscle cars! The Hellcat Challenger SRT can juice 707 hp out of a V-8 HEMI and deliver those horses straight into the street to launch 0-60 in 3.5 seconds. Now that we have your attention – meet the 199 MPH Bad-boy, the fastest, most powerful muscle car ever, the nasty 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat.

With a nod to tradition, the looks of the Hellcat are familiar to the muscle cars of yesteryear. However, inside this street-rocket, the infusion of technology and power make nostalgia choke on tire smoke. Grip the steering wheel to feel the racecar inspired paddle-shifting 8-speed TorqueFlite auto-transmission at your fingertips.

Cycle between driving modes of ‘Street’, ‘Sport’, ‘Track’, or ‘Custom’ to change the Hellcat’s throttle and suspension responsiveness from tame to Full Disco. The optional sticky Perelli tires grip hard into turns and huge Brembo brakes let it stop on a dime and leave you nine cents change.

This is not your dad’s muscle car. This is the one that ate it for breakfast and is hungry for lunch!  Order yours from Corwin Dodge.

Wounded Warrior Gets 2015 Dodge SRT Hellcat from Jay Leno on the Today Show

Last Wednesday, morning news viewers got a real treat when they watched television show host, comedian, and car enthusiast Jay Leno on the Today Show. That’s because funnyman Leno did something special: he gave a new car to a very deserving Cpl. Ethan Laberge, who was seriously injured while fighting in Afghanistan by a suicide bomber whose attack killed two of his fellow soldiers.

Laberge had been on foot patrol in Afghanistan when the suicide bombing occurred. Among other injuries, he suffered a serious brain injury causing him to have memory problems.

Laberge was chosen semi-randomly as a representative of all veterans to appear on the television program, where he met with the famous comedian. The two quickly bonded over their love of cars, and Leno allowed Laberge to take a drive in the hot new 2015 Dodge SRT Hellcat.

After a few trips and a quip that he wouldn’t mind having a Hellcat of his own, Leno handed Laberge the keys, saying, “America loves you. Thank you, buddy. Have a lot of fun. Don’t get any tickets.” Laberge jokingly replied that he couldn’t make that promise.

What did you think of this inspirational story? Let us at  Corwin Dodge know in the comments.

Challenger Hellcat Will Return 22 MPG HWY

When you’ve got a vehicle that promises 707 horsepower and promises the potential to burn through 1.5 gallons of gasoline every minute that you run it at full throttle, it’s reasonable to stand back from all that information and guess that you’re probably not going to be getting very good gas mileage.

Good news if you’re one such individual crazy enough to think they can handle the madness that is the Challenger Hellcat: it’s actually not that bad on fuel economy, returning 21 mpg hwy with the six-speed manual transmission and 22 mpg hwy with the TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic.

“The new 2015 Dodge Challenger is the perfect street / strip muscle car,” said Tim Kuniskis, President and CEO, Dodge and SRT Brands. “As the fastest muscle car ever, the Challenger Hellcat can run 10-second ETs at the track, and then get 22 miles per gallon on the drive home. With a starting price of $59,995, there’s nothing else that even comes close.”

Truer words were never spoken. In comparison: the Lamborghini Aventador will set you back $425,845, generate 700 horsepower, and return 18 mpg highway.

What does that tell us? If you’ve got the money to buy an Aventador, then you should just buy seven Challenger Hellcats. While we might not be able to get you seven of them, come talk to our sales specialists at Corwin Dodge to see how you can go about making the Hellcat yours. Trust us: don’t think that you can control it, because you can only hope to contain it.

Dodge Viper May Get Supercharged V10 Engine

If you thought the 707 horsepower Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat was powerful, wait until we tell you the rumors we’ve heard this week. Apparently, Dodge might be working to produce a Viper with a supercharged V10 engine, which could bring the performance vehicle’s power up to a whopping 800 hp.

Supercharged V10 engine | 2014 SRT Viper
If rumors are right, we might see the Viper supercharged with a V10 engine; increasing its horsepower to 800!

Automotive journalists at Allpar have had at least two sources confirm that supercharged V10 engines were recently delivered to Chrysler Group.

Currently, the Viper offers 640 hp when outfitted with its naturally-aspirated 8.4-liter V10 engine. Adding the supercharged power could raise that already impressive number by 120 horsepower. That is, of course, if the transmission, block, and other internal parts could handle all that power. We wouldn’t be surprised if the new engine requires the automaker to re-configure its current mechanics.

We at Corwin Dodge will keep our ears peeled for any more news or hints as to what the new Dodge Viper could have in store for performance enthusiasts. For now, we’ll be dreaming of 800 hp.

“When you name an engine ‘Hellcat,’ it had better have the performance to back it up and a sound that wakes up the devil. The Hellcat’s signature sound is the unholy union of supercharger whine and 5.5 inches of unrestricted exhaust,” said Tim Kuniskis, President and CEO, Dodge and SRT Brands. “Dodge/SRT fans can now make heads turn and people stop in their tracks, every time their phones ring.”

Separate Key Fob Unlocks 707 Horsepower in 2015 Dodge Challenger

The all-new 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT will feature Dodge’s most powerful V8 ever, making it both the most powerful Challenger ever built and the most powerful muscle car ever.

Under the hood, the 2015 Challenger will boast a supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI® Hellcat engine, cranking out 707 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque.

It’s the first factory supercharged HEMI and Dodge’s first application of V8 supercharger technology. Such is its power that Dodge has taken upon itself to offer buyers not one but two standard key fobs—one red and one black.

The black fob is benign enough. When used to start the engine, it will be reduced to a “mild” 500 horsepower output. When the red fob is used, the Challenger SRT’s full horsepower and torque potential is unlocked.

We’re not sure if making two fobs to separate the 500 and 707 horsepower experiences was necessary, but we imagine it will lend itself to quite a bit of fun—like when pressing a big red button to make something incredible happen. Just bust out your red key fob and hear the engine roar in response.

Find the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT at Corwin Dodge later this year and check out the muscle for yourself.
