Dodge Drive for Design Contest Challenges High School Students

Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat - Springfield, MO
What will the Hellcat look like in 10 years? High school students will have a say!

Many of Dodge’s iconic muscle cars allow buyers the option of the 707-hp Hellcat engine. However, once you get that powerful, where do you go from there? Dodge hopes to answer this question by bringing in some creativity and inspiration from the younger generation with the Drive for Design Contest. Aimed at high school students from 10-12th grade, the contest challenges young and aspiring designers to design the 2025 Dodge SRT Hellcat.

The 2015-2016 contest entries were required to be submitted by January 8th, but the awards and prizes won’t be presented until the end of February. The judging panel, consisting of FCA Head of Design Ralph Gilles, Ram Truck and Mopar Head of Design Joe Dehner, and Dodge and SRT Head of Design Mark Trostle, will select four winners from the entries. First place receives an Apple Macbook Pro, while second, third, and fourth place takes home an Apple iPad Pro with an Apple Pencil.

The award ceremony for the Drive for Design Contest will be held in Auburn Hills, Michigan where the winners will be given a tour of Detroit Autorama, followed by an over-the-summer, three-week-long automotive design class for all four winners. Both trips will be all-expenses-paid by FCA.

Dodge Challenger Drag Pak Versions

2015 Dodge Challenger - Springfield, MO
Get ready for some new versions of the already versatile Challenger!

If you thought the super powered Dodge Challenger Hellcat was the best Dodge could come up with, think again. The first factory-built Dodge Challenger drag racer tore into the pavement not long ago. Dodge unveiled two Drag Pak versions that make the Hellcat model look like a pint-sized pipsqueak.

The two Challenger Drag Pak models will run you a pretty penny more than the Hellcat. The Challenger 354 runs in at around $110,000 while the Challenger 426 rounds out at nearly $100,000.

Dodge isn’t telling just how much power the Drag Pak engines pump out, but we know what’s under the hood. The Challenger 354 rocks a supercharged 5.7-liter Hemi; it’s the first supercharged car in Fiat Chrysler’s Mopar parts group, which was founded way back in 1937.

The Challenger 354 can hit 150 mph in the quarter mile and runs the distance in eight seconds. That’s huge in drag racing.

If you’re hoping to grab one of these monsters, you’ll have to be quick. Only 60 Challenger Drag Pak 354 and 426s will be built in 2015. Ordering begins in late July and the drag racers will be built in July and August.

We are so glad to see a supercharged Dodge Challenger entering the drag racing ring!

Dodge Hellcat Orders Suspended Amid Massive Demand

2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat
Demand for the Hellcat is outstripping supply, but Dodge is racing to catch up!

The new 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat coupe and 2015 Charger SRT Hellcat sedan’s awesomeness has caught up with them. The rear-wheel-drive cars both feature a supercharged V-8 that puts out a ridiculous 707 horsepower (that makes the Challenger Hellcat the fastest sedan, ever). It should really come as no surprise to anyone that demand has outpaced production, and FCA has had to suspend orders.

FCA says that it received “more than 4,000 orders in just the first few weeks” after the Challenger SRT Hellcat was available for purchase. Now, with more than 9,000 orders, the company is halting any additional Dodge Hellcat orders until it can fulfill current orders.

“Due to unprecedented demand for the 2015 Dodge Charger and Challenger SRT Hellcats, we are temporarily restricting orders while we validate current orders that are in the system,” FCA said in a statement.

The Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat starts at about $60,000, and depending on features and options (and taxes), tops out around $70,000. Likewise, the 2015 Charger SRT Hellcat ranges from about $65,000 to $75,000. Considering the amount of power these cars put out, the amount of technology packed inside, and the muscle cars’ appealing and functional design, you can’t find a better value.

Though FCA hasn’t announced when they will begin taking new orders, here at Corwin Dodge, we have high hopes to be back to placing orders very soon. Stop by today to learn more.

2015 Dodge Challenger Shaker Models Coming Soon

2014 Dodge Challenger Shaker
Power and retro cool. The Dodge Challenger Shaker model is serious fun.

Dodge has announced a return to a favorite retro design from the 1970s—Dodge Challenger Shaker models. These models feature a cold-air intake “Shaker” hood scoop that actually shakes when the engine is revved.

This feature was offered for a short time last year on a limited edition model, but this year, it will be available on most V8 Challenger models.

“After selling out last year’s Shaker model production in just four days, our hardcore Challenger customers demanded we bring back the Shaker – plus offer more power and more performance,” said Tim Kuniskis, President and CEO, Dodge and SRT Brands, in a statement. “We listened, and for 2015, the new Dodge Challenger lineup offers the legendary Shaker hood expanded to include our 485 horsepower HEMI V-8 delivering up to 113 more horsepower than last year, plus even more track-proven hardware and technology – a combination our enthusiasts have been waiting for.”

The Shaker hood scoop will be a prime feature on the 2015 Challenger R/T Shaker, R/T Plus Shaker, and 392 HEMI Scat Pack Shaker models. The “cold-air grabbing” Shaker will come in Satin Black and will direct cold air into either the 5.7-liter or 6.4-liter V8 engines.

To make an even bigger statement with your Dodge Challenger Shaker model, choose from among these fantastic colors: B5 Blue, Sublime Green, TorRed, Billet Silver Metallic, Bright White, Pitch Black, and Granite Crystal Metallic.

If you’re ready to shake up your neighborhood, give us a call at Corwin Dodge today to place your order for the perfect 2015 Dodge Challenger Shaker model.

The Big Nasty: 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat

The powerful and sleek Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat.
The Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat pushes the limits of what a car can do.

We are officially in the steroid-age of muscle cars! The Hellcat Challenger SRT can juice 707 hp out of a V-8 HEMI and deliver those horses straight into the street to launch 0-60 in 3.5 seconds. Now that we have your attention – meet the 199 MPH Bad-boy, the fastest, most powerful muscle car ever, the nasty 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat.

With a nod to tradition, the looks of the Hellcat are familiar to the muscle cars of yesteryear. However, inside this street-rocket, the infusion of technology and power make nostalgia choke on tire smoke. Grip the steering wheel to feel the racecar inspired paddle-shifting 8-speed TorqueFlite auto-transmission at your fingertips.

Cycle between driving modes of ‘Street’, ‘Sport’, ‘Track’, or ‘Custom’ to change the Hellcat’s throttle and suspension responsiveness from tame to Full Disco. The optional sticky Perelli tires grip hard into turns and huge Brembo brakes let it stop on a dime and leave you nine cents change.

This is not your dad’s muscle car. This is the one that ate it for breakfast and is hungry for lunch!  Order yours from Corwin Dodge.

The 2015 Dodge Challenger will redefine your perception of muscle-cars — and keep you safe.

Though the 2015 Dodge Challenger has made history as the most powerful muscle car ever, it was also recently awarded a Five-Star Overall Safety Rating from the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. With performance, styling, and now safety, it seems like there’s nothing the new Challenger doesn’t have.

The 2015 Dodge Challenger safety features are quite impressive, including the Forward Collision Warning system, Blind-Spot Monitoring, and Rear Cross-Path Detection among other things. According to Chrysler, the new Challenger model has over 70 innovative safety and security features. In particular, the model excelled during individual crash-tests in front- and side-impacts.

“The new Dodge Challenger coupe further demonstrates our commitment to broaden the proliferation of advanced safety technologies, such as driver-assist features,” says Scott Kunselman, Senior Vice President of Vehicle Safety and Regulatory.

Dodge Challenger Engine Named One of 10 Best Engines for 2015

The Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat boasts some ridiculous power.
The Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat boasts some ridiculous power.

The SRT Hellcat version of the 2015 Dodge Challenger is one of the most track-ready vehicles ever built by Dodge, and it’s got an amazing engine to match that caliber, too. The engine is a 6.2-liter HEMI Hellcat V8, which pushes the new Challenger to 707 horsepower. Somehow, miraculously, that same engine also manages 22 mpg on the highway to boot.

All those great numbers led Ward’s Auto to include the new Challenger engine on their list of the 10 Best Engines for 2015. Another Chrysler engine, an EcoDiesel engine employed in the Ram 1500, also made the list.

“These two distinctly different engines represent the wide range of powertrain-engineering expertise and technology at Chrysler Group,” said Bob Lee, Vice President and Head of Engine, Powertrain and Electrified Propulsion Systems Engineering. “For their considerable might, they also are both highly efficient and refined – key hallmarks of Chrysler Group powertrains. Such attributes have helped power our vehicles to the top of the sales charts.”

However, both of these engines have at least one thing in common—an uncommon combination of power and efficiency. That’s the key to Dodge innovation right now: finding uncompromising ways to give customers what they want. To find what you want today, just come see us here at Corwin Dodge.

Wounded Warrior Gets 2015 Dodge SRT Hellcat from Jay Leno on the Today Show

Last Wednesday, morning news viewers got a real treat when they watched television show host, comedian, and car enthusiast Jay Leno on the Today Show. That’s because funnyman Leno did something special: he gave a new car to a very deserving Cpl. Ethan Laberge, who was seriously injured while fighting in Afghanistan by a suicide bomber whose attack killed two of his fellow soldiers.

Laberge had been on foot patrol in Afghanistan when the suicide bombing occurred. Among other injuries, he suffered a serious brain injury causing him to have memory problems.

Laberge was chosen semi-randomly as a representative of all veterans to appear on the television program, where he met with the famous comedian. The two quickly bonded over their love of cars, and Leno allowed Laberge to take a drive in the hot new 2015 Dodge SRT Hellcat.

After a few trips and a quip that he wouldn’t mind having a Hellcat of his own, Leno handed Laberge the keys, saying, “America loves you. Thank you, buddy. Have a lot of fun. Don’t get any tickets.” Laberge jokingly replied that he couldn’t make that promise.

2015 Dodge Challenger: The Most Bang for Your Buck

Drivers who are looking for an affordable muscle car basically have three options: the Dodge Challenger R/T, the Ford Mustang GT, or the Chevrolet Camaro 1SS. Each of these models comes with the lowest price tag for a V8 in their segment – but if you’re really looking for value, the 2015 Dodge Challenger gives you the best bang for your buck.

Torquenews.com points out that once again, the 2015 Dodge Challenger beats both the Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Camaro when it comes to the price tag. If you are considering a base model, you can expect to pay $32,490 for the Challenger, while it would cost $32,925 for the 2015 Ford Mustang GT (300A), and the 2015 Chevrolet Camaro 1SS starts at $34,500. It should be noted that all of these figures include a destination fee.

If power is your priority, opt for the new Scat Pack, which adds a 392 cubic inch SRT Hemi V8 engine that puts out 485 horsepower and 475 lb-ft of torque. That package will bump the price tag to $39,490, but will give your Challenger the ability to blow right past both the Mustang and Camaro – and just about any other car on the road, too.

The 2015 Dodge Challenger is an affordable muscle car with a whole lot to offer. Stop by Corwin Dodge today to test drive a 2015 Dodge Challenger R/T!
