When some folks find out that the all-new Dodge Challenger SRT Demon will have a wider body than any previous incarnation, they might be a little mystified. The wider body is designed to accommodate bigger tires. Why bigger tires? To handle the massive amount of power the Demon will be putting on the ground. In fact, the Demon will be the first car to ever go into mass production that comes outfitted with drag radial tires.
We first heard about the SRT Demon when Dodge put up a website displaying some maddeningly teasing footage of the new ride. That’s when we first learned it tagline, “Domestic. Not Domesticated.” Reminding us, as if we need it, that the upcoming Demon is going to be pure American muscle, much like the rest of its siblings. Dodge continues to post teaser footage of the Demon.
So, how powerful are we talking? No one knows just quite yet. And that’s exactly where Dodge wants us, overwhelmed with anticipation. A few clues have come to light though. The Demon will be 200 lbs. lighter than the Hellcat. Also, remember the Hellcat version boasts a wild 707 horsepower and 650 lb-ft. of torque. Dodge has said that Demon will offer 35 percent more launch force. Can you already smell the burning rubber?
