2017 Dodge Viper Special Editions Celebrate End of Production

2017 marks the end of an era. As the Dodge Viper comes up on its 25th anniversary, Fiat Chrysler has also announced the nameplate’s end of production; after 2017, the legendary Viper will be no more. The final generation of the Viper, introduced in 2013, will be getting one last upgrade as well as six Viper special editions, in order to commemorate the Dodge Viper’s final year on the market. Get ‘em while you can!

We’re going to miss the Dodge Viper, but these special editions are a great farewell present!

FCA didn’t cite a reason for ending production of the model, but doing a little research points towards slowing sales numbers and tighter emissions regulations as the underlying cause. When the announcement was made that the Viper would be going into retirement earlier this June, the brand rolled out five special edition models, but enthusiasm for the Viper was so high that Dodge saw fit to add a sixth to the lineup.

For the 2017 model year, Viper special editions include the Viper 1:28 Edition ACR, GTS-R Commemorative Edition ACR, two Snakeskin Editions (GTC and ACR), VoooDoo II Edition ACR, and Dodge Dealer Edition ACR. These special editions will be sold alongside the standard models, and all will be powered by the same 645-HP V10. Prices have not yet been revealed, but industry insiders speculate the base model will start around $85k.
