Dodge Journey and Durango Win Active Lifestyle Vehicle of the Year Awards

Two Dodge vehicles stood out in the 11th annual Carspondent.com Active Lifestyle Vehicle of the Year awards competition, which every year invites hundreds of athletes and outdoor enthusiasts to evaluate and judge new vehicles.

The Dodge Journey was named the Best Value On-Road with its MSRP at or below $35,000, while the Durango was named Best Value Family.

Both the Dodge Journey and Durango have so much to give back to drivers that go along with their value. They provide the handling and power that you expect from a Dodge SUV while also providing a luxurious and comfortable interior for drivers and passengers alike.

Judging of the vehicles involved active, outdoor enthusiasts who went on ride-and-drive tests along with a small contingent of automotive journalists, which included a difficult off-road course and some on-road driving.

“The Dodge Durango [and] Dodge Journey … offer functionality and performance for any adventure, so they’re an ideal fit for customers with active lifestyles,” said Reid Bigland, Head of U.S. Sales, Chrysler. And luckily for you, both can be found at Corwin Dodge! Stop in today to get behind the wheel of one of the Active Lifestyle Vehicle of the Year award winners. You won’t regret it.

2015 Dodge Challenger: The Most Bang for Your Buck

Drivers who are looking for an affordable muscle car basically have three options: the Dodge Challenger R/T, the Ford Mustang GT, or the Chevrolet Camaro 1SS. Each of these models comes with the lowest price tag for a V8 in their segment – but if you’re really looking for value, the 2015 Dodge Challenger gives you the best bang for your buck.

Torquenews.com points out that once again, the 2015 Dodge Challenger beats both the Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Camaro when it comes to the price tag. If you are considering a base model, you can expect to pay $32,490 for the Challenger, while it would cost $32,925 for the 2015 Ford Mustang GT (300A), and the 2015 Chevrolet Camaro 1SS starts at $34,500. It should be noted that all of these figures include a destination fee.

If power is your priority, opt for the new Scat Pack, which adds a 392 cubic inch SRT Hemi V8 engine that puts out 485 horsepower and 475 lb-ft of torque. That package will bump the price tag to $39,490, but will give your Challenger the ability to blow right past both the Mustang and Camaro – and just about any other car on the road, too.

New Dodge Ad Campaign Celebrates 100 Years with Dodge Brothers

While it has been 100 years since John and Horace Dodge created the Dodge Brothers Motor Car Company, their spirits still live on in a brand new Dodge ad campaign that is sure to take you back in time. Called “Ballroom—They Dreamed Big,” this new commercial spot for the 2015 Dodge Challenger is the first advertisement in a series that travels through time, back to the days when Dodge first began.

“Dodge has a very specific DNA, a bloodline that traces back to the Dodge brothers’ passion for making great cars,” said Olivier Francois, Chief Marketing Officer for Chrysler Group. “The new campaign captures the spirit of innovation and enthusiasm the Dodge brothers had when they founded the brand 100 years ago. Everything Dodge does today honors John and Horace Dodge’s legacy. Their spirit lives on through this campaign and the Dodge vehicles of today.”

The commercial focuses on an imaginary celebration of John and Horace’s success. During the rousing, flapper-filled party, a voiceover describes how the brothers came to create the car company, ending with a shot of the new 2015 Challenger revving its engine amongst two 1915 Dodge Touring cars.

Great Tailgate Party Recipes

For many people, fall is their favorite time of year. Not because of the cool weather, beautiful colors, and pumpkin-flavored everything, but because it’s football season! For those who love the game, hanging out with your family and friends is what really brings out the fun. And what better way to do that than at a tailgate party?

One important part of a successful tailgate party is having great food. Here are a few delicious tailgate party recipes that we love here at Corwin Dodge, and that are sure to keep your hungry crowd coming back for more.

Tailgate Party Recipes
We are sure you already have your own burger recipe, so check out other ideas we have!
  1. Dips are a staple at any tailgate party. Spice up your boring chip dip and try something new, like this mouth-watering, hearty Sausage, Bean, and Spinach Dip that adds ground sausage, pinto beans, cream cheese, and Parmesan cheese to the standard spinach dip.
  2. Deviled eggs may not seem like a tailgate party food, but just watch how quickly they disappear!
  3. Chili is another great game day food. Use your favorite recipe, just make sure it’s not too spicy. You could even whip this up a day in advance and then keep it warm in the crock pot throughout the game.
  4. For something on the sweet side, try these delicious fried pies. They’re easy to make and great for the on-the-go eating.

Remember, the key to great tailgate party food is portability. If it requires more than one utensil to eat, it probably will get passed over. Keep in mind, everyone may be standing and cheering, so food you can eat with one hand is best.

Trucks of Steel: Ram Not Switching to Aluminum Anytime Soon

A hot topic right now is automotive makes switching to the use of aluminum as the main component for their pickup trucks. Well, Ram is not conforming to that popular transition anytime time soon as they look to keep making trucks of steel.

Aluminum is a lot of times used in smaller, sportier cars because of how lightweight the material is, and it has been that way for a little while now. Ford and General Motors, how competitors of the Detroit native, Ram, have already committed to start using that precious light metal for their trucks. Ford already has, and GM has announced they will begin to use it next year.

Ram, however, is not looking switch to aluminum until at least 2020. After all, steel has been a major player in the building of cars for decades and decades, why switch so all of a sudden? It is a more powerful metal and can withstand a beating, which is what we like to see if we go off-roading.

Trucks of Steel from Ram
As the old saying goes, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” That’s why Ram is in no hurry to test out aluminum bodies on their trucks.

Don’t think for one second that this means the Ram truck that has now been named Truck of the Year for two consecutive years will get old. There is a plan to refresh the model in 2015 and looking to make even more improvements in 2017. Then, later on it may switch to aluminum… when it is good and ready.

Many of these trucks of steel are waiting for you right here at Corwin Dodge. Stop by today to see what the steel is doing for the already powerful Ram 1500.
