Challenger Hellcat Will Return 22 MPG HWY

When you’ve got a vehicle that promises 707 horsepower and promises the potential to burn through 1.5 gallons of gasoline every minute that you run it at full throttle, it’s reasonable to stand back from all that information and guess that you’re probably not going to be getting very good gas mileage.

Good news if you’re one such individual crazy enough to think they can handle the madness that is the Challenger Hellcat: it’s actually not that bad on fuel economy, returning 21 mpg hwy with the six-speed manual transmission and 22 mpg hwy with the TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic.

“The new 2015 Dodge Challenger is the perfect street / strip muscle car,” said Tim Kuniskis, President and CEO, Dodge and SRT Brands. “As the fastest muscle car ever, the Challenger Hellcat can run 10-second ETs at the track, and then get 22 miles per gallon on the drive home. With a starting price of $59,995, there’s nothing else that even comes close.”

Truer words were never spoken. In comparison: the Lamborghini Aventador will set you back $425,845, generate 700 horsepower, and return 18 mpg highway.

What does that tell us? If you’ve got the money to buy an Aventador, then you should just buy seven Challenger Hellcats. While we might not be able to get you seven of them, come talk to our sales specialists at Corwin Dodge to see how you can go about making the Hellcat yours. Trust us: don’t think that you can control it, because you can only hope to contain it.

1964 Dodge Custom 880 Straight from the Founding Family

To celebrate its 50th anniversary, Dodge built 1,058 unique 1964 Dodge Custom 880 convertibles. Now one especially distinct model is coming up for sale, and this one comes straight from the Dodge family.

The first owner of this remarkable car was Anna Thomson Dodge, wife of Horace E. Dodge, one of the founders of the Dodge Brothers. It then passed on to Mary Wilson, who was married to Ralph Wilson, the owner of the Buffalo Bills football team. He died this past March.

Mary Wilson came to own the car in 1994 after her then future husband purchased the car at a DuMouchelles auction. He placed the winning bid of $13,000. At the time, the car still had its original tires and only had 7,862 original miles.

After Anna Thomson Dodge’s death in 1970, the car remained in the Dodge family’s possession until the 1994 auction.

Now, after Wilson’s husband’s death, she is selling the car. In an interview with The New York Times, she said, “It’s an incredible car with a pretty cool history. I hate selling it, but I just need to get rid of some things.”

The car currently has just over 20,000 miles and is in a remarkably unrestored state. It is powered by a 361-cubic-inch V8 engine, which still starts and run smoothly. It also has many unique features for a 1964 car including an AM-FM radio, Auto Pilot (an early version of cruise control), and an adjustable steering wheel.

Whoever ends up buying this beauty will get an amazing piece of history. Those looking for a more current model, though, should stop by Corwin Dodge to see our great selection of new Dodges.

2015 Dodge Durango Gets Hot Rallye Style

Last year, the Dodge Durango got a major update, so this year the changes are minimal. However, this year, the 2015 Durango does get some smoking hot appearance packages and a new sound system.

The Durango’s popular Rallye Appearance Package is now extended across all trim levels, including the Limited and base SXT trims. This available package will give your Durango a monochromatic look with smoked headlights, a ground effects package, and 20-inch Hyper Black wheels. For models equipped with the V-6 engine, you’ll get dual exhaust pipes and the Limited trim comes with leather seating.

For an even darker look, opt for the Blacktop Appearance Package on the SXT, Limited, and R/T models. This adds a glossy black grille, special badges, and 20-inch Gloss Black wheels to complement the Rallye look.

If you prefer high-end sound, be sure to get the Beats by Dr. Dre sound system. This 13-speaker system will be standard on the R/T model, optional on the Citadel trim, and part of package for the Limited models.

One more change for 2015 includes available red Nappa leather for the Durango R/T.

The 2015 Dodge Durango will be coming to Corwin Dodge later this year. What appearance package would you love to add to your Durango?
